Who is Dr. Jay Eitner?
Dr. Jason ‘Jay’ Eitner is a product of New Jersey public schools, growing up in Union. His working class roots (his Dad was a CNC machinist, his Mom a secretary), he was the first in his family to attend college. Receiving his BA from The American University in Washington DC, Jay interned and briefly worked for the late Congressman Bob Franks (NJ-7). Bob allowed Jay to soak up his leadership and daily practices like a sponge, even launching a campaign for a Republican seat on the Township Committee. Though he lost, it was just the beginning of community service. Jay was a member of the Planning Board for 8 years, the Chairman of the Municipal Drug Alliance for 10 years, and an armed Auxiliary Police Officer for 16 years.
Career wise, Jay began as a teacher at St. Joseph the Carpenter School teaching Kindergarten, computers, reading and social studies. In 2004, Jay went to the East Brunswick Public School District where he taught 8th grade American history & civics. In 2010, Jay became an Assistant Principal at the Long Valley Middle School where he oversaw everything from clubs & sports to several school committees that affected daily student academic life. Later that year, Jay became the K-12 Supervisor of Social Studies in the Hopewell Valley Regional School District. Jay focused on age-streamlining appropriate curriculum, creating civics classes and curriculum units, and collaborated with both Mercer County Technical Schools and the Hopewell supervisor to offer more classes for those who wanted to take this route for their career.
In 2013, with the help of Governor Christie’s educational policies, Jay became the youngest Superintendent in New Jersey’s history at The Lower Alloways Creek School District. Located at the tip of Salem County, it is home to the 3-plant PSEG Nuclear System. Jay worked extensively with the plant to bring a myriad of offerings to the town, ranging from a pathway to employment to receiving mini grants for the school. In 2015, Jay became the Superintendent of Schools at the Waterford Township School District.
As the Chief School Administrator, Jay raised test scores in both districts by double-digits and passed budgets ranging from a 0.64% increase to giving back at a -2.1%. He successfully re-negotiated company and personnel contracts, lead talks on consolidating school districts, chaired multi-district consortiums, and ascertained over $18,400,000 from private companies in grants. From there, Jay became the CEO of the Allentown Arts Academy - a charter school in Pennsylvania.

Since then, Jay founded Eitner Education, a company that consulted various public, private and day schools on multiple areas. Currently, Eitner also volunteers as an advocate for families of special education students and the special needs population.
Jay is married to his former colleague and forever-best-friend (he fixed her classroom printer, and that was that!) and have 11-year-old twins. They reside in Mt. Laurel and Surf City in the summer. In the 3 minutes of spare time he gets a week, Jay enjoys having a great cigar, enjoying a great scotch, cooking, and an occasional drop-in at a casino in Atlantic City.
